Varicose Veins treatment with Value HealthCare

OUR EXPERIENCED VASCULAR SURGEONS PROVIDE AFFORDABLE MINIMALLY INVASIVE, NICE APPROVED TREATMENT OF VARICOSE VEINS IN A TREATMENT ROOM SETTING.

Our service is aimed at patients suffering from painful varicose veins, who may have been denied access to NHS treatment and don’t have private medical insurance.   Recent funding restrictions have meant that most varicose vein surgery is now classified as a treatment of ‘low clinical value’ by NHS England making it ineligible for NHS funding.

Severe cases are still treated by the NHS.  You should consult your local GP to understand your local commissioning criteria.

Treatments available
We offer the same keyhole treatment methods used by the NHS, approved by the National Association of Clinical Excellence.  The treatments offered are endothermal ablation and foam sclerotherapy.

Treatments are performed as day cases under local anaesthetic by one of our experienced consultant surgeons.  As these procedures do not require a general anaesthetic, they can take place in a treatment room setting, rather than an operating theatre.  Enabling us to offer value for money whilst, at the same time providing an excellent standard of care and a consultant-delivered treatment.

Endothermal ablation
Endothermal ablation uses energy either from high-frequency radio waves (radiofrequency ablation) or lasers (endovenous laser treatment) to seal the affected veins.  Under local anaesthetic a small catheter is inserted into the vein using ultrasound guidance.  The vein is heated which causes it to collapse, closing & sealing it shut. Once the vein has been sealed shut, your blood with naturally be redirected to one of your healthy veins.

Foam sclerotherapy
If endothermal ablation treatment alone is unsuitable for you, foam sclerotherapy is another option for smaller veins. A special type of foam is injected into your veins under ultrasound guidance. The foam causes inflammation which scars the veins, and seals them closed.

Please note:  Our philosophy is to treat patients with clinical symptoms ineligible for treatment on the NHS.  Patients seeking cosmetic treatment rather than pain relief (who are without clinical symptoms) are encouraged to pursue treatment in the private hospital sector.

What we offer

The primary treatment we offer is called endothermal ablation and is the same treatment offered to NHS patients. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic as a day case meaning that recovery time is much faster than more traditional methods such as ‘stripping’ of veins which are performed under general anaesthetic.

We can help you if…

  • You have symptomatic (painful) veins that are not eligible NHS treatments
  • Your veins have come back after injections or ligation, but not stripping
  • You have concerns about your veins causing problems in future
  • You are wanting to relieve painful symptoms caused by your veins
  • You don’t have medical insurance and need a self-pay treatment option

What we don’t offer

We do not intend to replace the NHS as a treatment route for those who are eligible for NHS treatment due to the more complex nature of their veins. We are also not set up to provide the same type of service as you would receive in a private hospital, our prices reflect this.

Treatment in a private hospital would suit you better if…

  • Your primary concern about your veins is cosmetic (appearance of the veins)
  • You would be dissatisfied at still having a few visible veins after treatment
  • You have had veins in the affected leg stripped in the past
  • You have had treatment for phlebitis in your veins
  • You have had a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in the past
